Ramon served in the U.S. Army (1993-1999). Service dog Bravo is trained to work for and support Ramon and Vicky’s daughter Ellowyn, a special needs, non-verbal child who suffers from life-threatening silent seizures. “Her seizures started when she was six. The technical term is Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a rare form of epilepsy that is incurable. She used to have this loud scream at the beginning of every seizure that would wake us up but for the past few months now she hasn’t been giving us that warning scream. Bravo is her seizure alert. He will come and get us if anything happens so we won’t sleep through it. That gives Vicky and I peace of mind at night that we’re not gonna miss anything. It’s a big, big relief knowing that we can count on Bravo. He’s there.”
